Competition terms & conditions

Submission of an entry will be taken to mean acceptance of these terms and conditions.

The competition is open to school pupils in Years 11-13 during the academic year 2016-17 who are residents of the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man or who attend an accredited British school overseas.

Entries must be submitted using the website before the closing date of Sunday 17 September 2017.

All photographs submitted must be the work of the person submitting them.  Entrants must warrant that the photograph they are submitting is their own work and that they own the copyright for it.

Copyright of all images submitted for this competition remains with the respective entrants. However, each entrant grants a worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual licence to the Geographical Association, Geographical Association Physical Geography Special Interest Group (GA PGSIG) and Paramo to feature any or all of the submitted images in any of their publications, their websites and/or in any promotional material connected to this competition.

Only one entry is permitted per person. Late or corrupt entries will not be accepted.

The winning entries will be those judged on their visual appeal/quality of the photograph, and the quality of the accompanying description with a particular emphasis on the physical geography therein contained.

The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

All winners and entries judged as Highly Commended will receive a copy of Longman’s Student Atlas from the Geographical Association and a certificate.

The winners may be invited to take part in publicity.

All prizes are non transferable and there are no cash alternatives.

Events may occur that render the competition itself or the awarding of the prizes impossible due to reasons beyond the control of the GA/Paramo and accordingly the GA/Paramo may at their absolute discretion vary or amend the promotion. The entrant agrees that no liability shall attach to the GA/Paramo as a result thereof.

English law applies and the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts shall prevail.

Privacy statement

The Geographical Association will not collect any information from you except that required for processing of your entry.

This information will not be shared with any other parties.

Liability for content
